BROTHER MFC-J805DW OFFLINE:

If your printer is not connecting with your computer, then the printer may be offline. Follow the below steps to fix the offline printer problem.

Check the connection:

  • Make sure to turn on your printer and check if there is an error message on the printer's screen.
  • Check whether the printer is connected to your computer.
  • If you connect using a USB cable, check if the cable is connected to both the printer and computer.
  • If you connect using Ethernet, check the cable connection between the printer and the router/access point.
  • If you are using a wireless connection, print the network configuration page to check the IP address.

Check the printer status:

  • Make sure to check whether the printer is offline or paused by clicking on Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sounds > Devices and Printers.
  • Now, right-click on your printer's icon and select See what's printing > Printer > Use Printer Offline (remove the checkbox) or select See what's printing > Printer > Pause Printing (remove the checkbox).
  • If there is any copy of your Brother MFC-J805DW printer's icon, then delete it.
  • Make sure that you are using the correct printer driver for your printer.

Delete the printer jobs:

  • Make sure to set your printer as the default machine on your computer.
  • Try to delete all the printer jobs from the computer by clicking on Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sounds > Devices and Printers.

  • First, disconnect the printer's power cord from the power outlet.
  • Pull the paper tray entirely out of the printer.
  • Hold the two side levers in the printer to remove the jammed paper.
  • Open the scanner lid.
  • Now, gently pull out the jammed paper from the printer.
  • Close the scanner lid and turn on your printer.
  • If you still can't fix the paper jam issue, then open the scanner lid again.
  • Press the Exit button until the printhead moves to the center.
  • Now, disconnect the printer from the power source and remove the jammed paper.
  • If there is a paper jam under the printhead, remove the printer's printhead to take out all the jammed paper.
  • Close the scanner lid.
  • Power on your printer and check if there is any error on the printer's screen.
  • Still, if you can't fix the error, then power off the printer and turn around the printer to your side.
  • Now, hold both the levers to open the clear jam cover at the back of the printer.
  • Gently remove the jammed paper out of the printer.
  • Close the clear jam cover.
  • Make sure to close the cover completely.
  • Insert the paper tray completely into the printer.
  • Connect the power cord to the power source and turn on your printer.
  • Check if there is any error on the printer's control panel.

BROTHER MFC-J805DW NOT PRINTING:

If you cannot print anything on your printer, follow the below steps to fix the problem.

Check the printer's port:

  • Make sure to connect your printer to the correct port on the computer.
  • Select the Start button on your computer.
  • Search for the Control Panel option in the search bar.
  • From the Control Panel, select the Hardware and Sounds option.
  • Select the Devices and Printers option.
  • Now, you will see a list of available devices and printers (that are connected to the printer) in the Devices and Printers window.
  • Choose your Brother printer from the list and right-click on it.
  • Click on the Properties option from the menu.
  • In the printer properties dialog box, choose the Change Properties option from the General section.
  • Now, select the Port tab and choose the port which contains your printer name.
  • Click on the Apply and OK buttons.
  • Still, if you can't print, then check whether your printer is set as the default machine on your computer.
  • Make sure that your printer is in a ready state. If not, then put it in the ready state.
  • If the printer has too many print jobs, delete all of them from the printer queue.

If your printer is printing only blank pages, then fix this issue by following the below steps.

Replace the defective ink cartridge:

  • Open the ink cartridge door, carefully remove the empty or defective ink cartridge from the printer, and replace it with the new one.
  • Unpack the new ink cartridge from the package, discard the protective tapes around it, and install the cartridge into the respective slot on the printer.
  • Close the ink cartridge access door.
  • If your printer continues to print blank pages, then try to clean the printer's printhead.

Clean the printer's printhead:

  • From your Brother MFC-J805DW printer's control panel, click on the Menu button.
  • Select the Ink option from the menu.
  • Choose the Cleaning option. Now, a confirmation message will display on your printer's screen.
  • Select the OK button. Now, choose the ink cartridge color from the list and select the Properties option.
  • Select the Clean option and choose Shading cartridges on the next screen.

Use duplex printing option:

  • Make sure that your printer has the duplex printing option.
  • If the printer driver already has the duplex printing option, then enable it.
  • If the printer driver does not have a duplex printing feature, then uninstall the current printer driver and download the Brother MFC-J805DW printer driver that has the duplex printing feature.
  • After completing the download process, run the driver file and follow the on-screen prompts to finish the driver installation process.
  • Enable the Duplex Printing option from the printer driver to print on both sides of a paper.

Modify page and paper settings in printer driver:
