Unboxing Printer:

• To begin with, open the printer package.
• Take out the printer and then check the components.
• You will get the following printer supplies.
• AC power cord
• Quick Setup Guide
• Installer CD-ROM
• Telephone line cord
• Take out these supplies and keep them aside for later use.
• Next, remove the protective tapes and covers from the Brother MFC 8510DN Setup.
• Open the printer front cover and take out the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly.
• Remove the toner cartridge from the drum unit and shake it gently for a few seconds to evenly distribute the ink.
• Remove the orange protective part from the cartridge.
• Refix the cartridge into the drum unit and fix the assembly into the printer.
• Close the front cover.

Connecting Cables:

• First, connect your Brother MFC 8510DN Setup to an electrical outlet using the provided power cord.

Connecting Printer To Router:

• To begin with, turn on your printer.
• Open the protective cap from the Ethernet port of your printer.
• Connect your printer and router using a standard Ethernet cable. This cable should be connected to your router’s LAN port.
• Once the connection is made, proceed to install the driver on your computer.

Installing Printer Driver:

• Connect your Windows computer to the same network as your printer.
• Run the driver installation wizard using the CD-ROM or the downloaded driver package.
• Agree to the EULA to continue installing the driver.
• Choose the Wired Network Connection option as your connection type and click Next.
• If the Firewall/Antivirus detected screen appears, select the option to change the firewall settings and continue with the connection and click Next.
• Continue with the on-screen instructions and complete the driver installation.
• When the Setup Complete screen appears, click Next and select Finish.

PAPER JAM

If your Brother MFC-8510DN printer’s LCD panel shows the Paper Jam error, identify the location where the paper is jammed. There are chances that the paper can get jammed in the following areas.

• MP tray
• Paper tray 1 or 2
• Back of the printer
• Inside the printer
• Duplex tray
• If the paper is jammed inside your printer, turn off your Brother MFC 8510DN Setup.
• Open the front cover and pull out the drum unit assembly from the printer.
• Locate the jammed paper and remove it gently from the printer.
• Refix the drum unit assembly into the printer and close the front cover.
• After ensuring that you have cleared all the jammed paper, restart your printer.
• Check if the problem is resolved.
• If you get the error again on the LCD panel, recheck and remove any paper jammed inside your printer.

TONER RESET

You cannot reset the toner, but you can reset the drum unit counter after replacing it on your printer. Although it cannot be done manually, you can select the following options to reset the counter while replacing the drum unit.

• Once you have done replacing the drum unit, the Brother MFC 8510DN Setup will show the Replace Drum message on the LCD panel.
• Press Clear and confirm that you have installed the new drum unit by pressing 1.
• When the printer shows the Accepted message, close the front cover and let the printer reset the drum unit counter.

Solution 1: Basic troubleshooting

• First, check if your printer is turned on. If not, check the power cord and restart your printer.
• Next, check the connection between your printer and computer.
• For USB connection, check the cable connected at both end ports.
• For an Ethernet connection, check the cable connection between your printer and router.
• If necessary, restart your printer and re-establish the connection between your printer and computer.

Solution 2: Set printer as default and disable Use Printer Offline

• On your Windows computer, open Control Panel and click the Devices and Printers tab.
• Locate your printer’s icon from the displayed list.
• Check if there is a green checkmark on your printer icon. If Yes, then your printer is already set as default on your computer.
• If your Brother MFC 8510DN Setup is not yet set as default, right-click the printer icon and select the Set as default printer option.
• Once again, right-click the printer icon and select the See what’s printing option.
• Cancel the pending print jobs, if any.
• Click the Printer tab and deselect the Use Printer Offline option if it has been selected already.
• Now, check if your printer status is changed to online. If not, restart the Print Spooler service.

• First, check if there is enough paper on your computer.
• Next, check if the drum unit assembly is installed correctly into the printer.
