The simple solutions for some of the common issues that one could face with the Brother DCP T220 printer are given in the following section. We also provide remote assistance in fixing those printer issues.

Your Brother DCP T220 printer does not use toner. Instead, the printer uses ink tanks. You just need to refill the ink tanks with Brother ink bottles.

  • If the paper got jammed inside the printer, turn off your printer and take out the paper tray entirely out.
  • Gently remove the jammed paper from the printer.
  • Open the back of your printer. Locate the jam clear cover and open it.
  • Remove the jammed paper inside it and close the jam clear cover as it used to be.
  • Insert the output tray into the printer and reconnect the power cord.
  • If you have not loaded the paper in the manual feed slot properly, you would probably end up in a paper jam.
  • To remove the paper from the manual feed slot, turn on your printer and load a sheet of A4 paper into the manual feed slot. It will be fed through the Brother DCP T220 Setup, and it would eject the jammed paper. Remove the jammed paper.

  • Make sure your printer is turned on and does not display any errors on the screen.
  • If you find any errors like paper jam or Ink/Toner empty, fix that error in the first place.
  • Check whether the USB cable connecting your printer and computer is working fine. Check all the connections. Ensure the connections are firm enough and check whether the offline issue has been fixed.
  • Make sure you have set the Brother printer as the default printer on your computer. Go to the Control Panel on your Windows computer and navigate to the Hardware and Sounds, followed by the Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click on your Brother printer and check whether it is set as the default printer.
  • Check whether you have kept your printer in offline mode or if you had paused the printer’s status.
  • Select your printer from the Devices and Printers section just as mentioned above and select See what’s printing. Then click on the printer and check whether the Use Printer Offline and Pause Printing options are selected.
  • If you find them to be selected, deselect the checkmark and verify whether the offline problem is solved.

  • If you had loaded the paper with the wrong paper size, your printer might fail to print the required documents. So load the paper which is accessible on your printer and check whether your printer prints correctly.
  • When the ink tank is empty, your printer cannot print any desirable pages. So if you find the ink tank to be empty, fill it up with the right color ink.
  • When the ink gets dried up or dust accumulates over the nozzle of the print head, it can be clogged. Take out the print head from your Brother DCP T220 printer and clean them with water. Once you remove the dried ink or
  • dust from it, clean it with a clean cloth. Now insert the print head into the holder and check whether you can print.
  • If the printer driver gets corrupted, the printer will start to malfunction. Uninstall the driver from your computer and reinstall it again. You can download the driver from the official website of Brother.

  • If you cannot print good quality pages, the problem might be with the print heads. To ensure the print quality, your printer automatically cleans the print head now and then. You can also clean it manually.
  • Press the Power, Stop, and Copy buttons simultaneously. Power LED, Warning, LED, and Ink LED will light up for a second. Then the Ink LED light alone starts to blink.
  • If you want to clean all four print heads, press the Color Start button.
  • If you're going to clean the black print head alone, click on the Mono Start button.
  • Now your Brother DCP T220 Setup starts to clean the print heads. Print a sheet of paper to check whether the quality has improved.
  • If you have not fixed the print head issue yet, you need to replace the print head.
